RE-INK-ART because everything deserves a second chance This is the place where flea market finds, discarded scraps & odd bits find their new life through a power of words & a little bit of dusting. This is where they are REINCARNATED.
...not so sure it was an apple afterall...could it have been a forbidden cherry? forbidden papaya? a shell? some kind of drink? or a place she took him? ...i keep guessing
On some days i want to run far far away from this place to see tall buildings, hear the noise of traffic on the streets, to be shoved, pushed, yelled at & do some of the same thing myself...crazy?! Is it that the beauty & peacefulness of this place is so powerful it's scary & it makes me want to abandon it because i know (i see its work in the eyes of locals) this place is addictive, it ties you down & never lets you go. brings you back from travels. disappears you from the radars of city life. one big beautiful black hole. bermuda triangle.
i m reading this great book called "the Artists Way" written by Julia Cameron. Its about "getting unstuck" creatively. she advises to use reading deprivation as one of the tools on the way to creative recovery. Since (as i know now) i ve been creatively blocked for at least about last 20 years i m eagerly following her advice. Shutting up humbly i am so you too can enjoy insightful silence.
I am often asked by Russian compadres how the crisis affects me personally. hm...it's not too much fun if one loves to shop. At the same time, this much needed break from obsessive consumption made me (like so many of us) go shopping for something else...something very essential, a staple, a must-have: creativity. In a way, i am grateful for the recession.
More life-guards on duty.
(images for "Sneak A Drink" magnets are from a vintage "Dairy Book" printed in USSR in 1961 & given to me by my grandma...See, granny, i m using it wisely:)
And just when i thought i knew all nooks & crannies of our little village i stumbled upon this Beauty! Never underestimate big potential of a small thing:)
